How the Kroger Cares card works

(Updated for the 2011 school year)

One of the ways we raise money for both the band and individual students is through the Kroger Cares program. Here are more details.

Thanks so much for using the Kroger Cares gift card to help with the band's fundraising. Siegel Band receives 4% of what you spend! These funds can really add up to help with band expenses.

Here’s how it works:

1. Go to your local Kroger (anywhere in the nation).

2. Shop as normal.

3. When you get to the checkout counter, BEFORE THEY RING UP your groceries or gas, ask them to put a certain amount on the Kroger gift card.**

For example if you have a few things, put $20 or $30, if you have lots, put $100 or $200. Whatever amount you want, pay for it (cash, check, whatever) and they put that amount on your Kroger Cares gift card.

4. The groceries, prescriptions, postage stamps, gas or photographs will be rung up as normal.

5. Pay for them with the Kroger Cares gift card. You just click CREDIT on the machine and slide your card through. If you went over the amount you put on the card, you just pay it normally (cash, check, debit, etc). If you spent less than the amount on the card, then it stays on the card until the next time you use it!

The band gets credit for it every time you reload it, so please use it every time you get groceries, prescriptions, postage stamps, gifts, gas etc. This is a year-round fund raiser and our account earns credits monthly.

**If you prefer, you can go to the customer service desk and put the money on the card before you shop. Any amount up to $500. Then, you might use it all month before you have to put more money on it. Either way works the same in the end for the band.

Again, thanks so much! This is a great way to help out and you do not have to buy anything like a fund raiser, you just shop at Kroger and use this Kroger Cares Gift Card! We really appreciate your willingness to take the time on this extra step every time you go to Kroger.

The Kroger Cares card costs $5 (which you can use towards a purchase at Kroger). To get your card or for questions, contact our 2011 coordinator Madonna Myers, myersmadonna@gmail.com.
